Dog enjoyed it but destroyed it pretty quickly. I figured it wouldn't last long, but thought I'd give it a try anyway. I have two medium sized dogs. The dog that this was given to isn't a strong chewer, but he is a gnawer and enjoys grinding/slicing through rope with his back teeth. I ordered this with the expectation he would work through it pretty quickly, but I hoped it would help clean his back teeth in the process. He removed all four feet within a few minutes. The tail was shredded after a day or two of off-and-on play time (I'd take it away when I wasn't watching him). The toy is stuffed with strips of the rope material. After I took all the lose strips away from him (since he'll eat it all), the remaining un-stuffed toy remains a good toy for brief intervals of play time (before he can make much progress on eating more of the rope). It didn't last long enough for me to determine if it would help keep his back teeth clean.A year ago when we adopted our Wonderful dog Wall-E our friends from the east coast sent him his first Louie the Lobster Rope toy as a gift. After a year it's still one of his favorite toys but it's an unrecognizable blob of string. So I ordered our very happy and very spoiled doggy a new lobster buddy. He was THRILLED!A little *Con: I wish it was clear what the difference between the Large and the Small size toy was. I ordered the large but I think it's heavier than the first one we received as a gift. I guess I could've called and asked before buying... but I didn't.Arrived in a timely manner, and our dog is very happy he has a new lobster toy he drags it around like a proud pup.We purchased this for our 5 month old puppy, hoping that it would get her through a particularly bad phase of teething. She thoroughly enjoyed it for all of about 6 days before annihilating it with her sharp puppy incisors. This is NOT the manufacturer's fault. It's a defect in my dog: a complete inability to keep any toy intact for more than a week. The elephant itself is well made and very cute!Looks so cute in the picture right? But when it arrived, the nose was straightened out and it looks like an alien. It also has this musty smell that just won't quit. Mind you, this review is tempered by the fact that if my dog had a working knowledge of the internet, keyboards and how to post a review on Amazon, he'd give it an enthusiastic 5++ stars. He loves it and it is well-made so it will truly withstand rough/ruff play. Just take the ribbon off the neck immediately because it is not secured to the toy in any way and it is begging to be ingested and cause trouble down the line....Basically, if you are like me and have issues with aesthetics and musty smells, this is not the toy for YOU, but it is in every way the toy for your DOG, who gives no effs about what it looks like and the smell is probably more enticing than off-putting to him/her.My 45-lb pit loves this bad boy, and she was so excited to get it a month ago. She did swing it around so hard that the center part flew off and the circle part turned into a long tug rope... but both pieces have remained intact since. True to description, the fraying floss at the ends of both piece definitely get in between her teeth. If you have a dog with handling sensitivities, especially around the mouth, this is a great way to reduce how often you'll need to brush.We bought this as a Christmas present for my two Boxers. Most stuffed animal toys last about 5 minutes before the "guts" are all over the floor. This toy lasted about 30 minutes before strands were starting to fray off.Other reviewers are correct in that you have to watch to make sure your dogs do not eat the strands. If you watch your dogs, this is a great toy. However, this may not be the best toy if you do not monitor your dogs all the time.Our large dog still has this toy— the head easily came undone, but the body and the rest of the toy is very sturdy. He loves it and carries it everywhere!I bought this toy for my 5 pound pup and she tore it to shreds in less than two weeks. She even ate one of the felt eyes. On the one hand, she seemed to like to play with it but on the other hand it has a funny scent and is not as durable as I had hoped.
