I own Nintendogs for the the Nintendo DS, and was excited to play Nintendogs + Cats for the 3DS. I was still pleasantly surprised to play it! I knew I would like the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendogs + Cats, but I didn't think I'd like them this much. First, let me tell you that I am a 26 year old woman. I hear this game is targeted at children, but I still find enjoyment in it! The dogs have more personality in this game than the original, which is nice. The walks you can take with your dog are more enjoyable. The game understands my voice more in this game than the original. The graphics are obviously a lot better than the original; the 3D is way cooler than I thought it would be. It's something you have to see to believe. The only complaint I have is that the dogs never go to the bottom screen the way they do in the DS version. When you're playing with the dog, there is a silhouette of him/her on the bottom screen, and you pet the silhouette as it shows a hand petting the dog on the top screen. I liked being able to "pet" the actual dog in the first game.Overall, it's just a nice, little game. I haven't been able to adopt a cat yet, but I have played with the kittens in the kennel. I'm slightly disappointed at the variety, there are only three kinds of cats. But for me, that doesn't detract from the experience at all. Also in this game, you can buy furniture for the house and the dogs and cats interact with the furniture, which is a nice touch. The reason why I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the fact that this is not a lengthy game. Spending half an hour a day feels like enough time with it. I understand it's a simple game, and that's what I like about it. I definitely recommend this game for kids; it's pure and kid-friendly. But I also recommend this for the adults like me who enjoy pet simulators. :)I recently bought this game and have been having fun playing it a few times a day as well as experimenting with the different breeds of dogs,it has been my experience with this game that certain breeds of dogs do better in contests than others pretty much from the start and believe it or not it isn't always the larger dogs that do better.I also think that although not much has been changed that this game is better than the original, you no longer have to draw a path before walking your dog,you can also walk your dog/s more often per day, there are different stores where you can shop and there is also a store where you can trade things you find while walking your dog as well as sell items you have no use for,one of the changes made was in a dog competition there is no longer an agility contest it has been replaced with a luring contest. If i had one complaint about this game it would be the variety of cats, there are only 3 breeds Standard,Oriental and Longhair and although they have different coat patterns it would have been nice to have a little more variety..Other than that one complaint i think this is a good game and worth picking up especially for anyone who never played the original.I've had the old Nintendogs since around 2006 and loved it all the while, so when I saw this I got so incredibly excited and bought it before I had actually thought it through. Luckily, I haven't regretted the decision! it is different enough from the original to be a fun new experience, but retains some of the quality's that made me love nintendogs in the first place. My complaints are that agility trials were replaced with dog races and those are significantly more frustrating to train your dog for. Also, you have to have those yellow cards to do obedience trials which sucks.Other than that, it is a very cute game, the dogs have more personality and the fact that you can also have cats warms my cold heart. If you enjoyed the original nintendogs then it's safe to assume you'all enjoy this game, and if you just really enjoy dogs and wanted some virtual puppets, this is, to me, the best pet game out there :)It seems as if all the exclusive pets have been removed from the second incarnation of these games... In which case you buy the version with whichever the person on the receiving end thinks is cutest! My girlfriend loves the occasional nintendogs night, as a good way to relax. You can still bathe, walk, and train your dogs. You still take them to events, and choose to buy them from a breeder (maybe adoption options would be nice to promote that to kids?) as with the other games. The new ones have a lot more pets available, as well as the new cats. But the main thing is that it all looks, and plays, a lot better on the new hardware. If you enjoyed the old ones, then the new ones will be just as goodThis doesn't even play in my country, you would think if a game is restricted to specific countries it would call this out in BOLD HIGHLIGHT for the buyers to be aware! Total waste of time and money and it was for a Birthday gift, so disappointed with Amazon!Like others have reviewd the 3 different Nintendogs + Cats are the same. You will start with different dog breeds but through game play you will be able to unlock the other breeds. Nintendogs + Cats features a lot of the 3DS capabilities. Once you name your dog you can call him/her with the microphone. Your dog/cat will learn to recognize you using the camera. The 3D graphics are a nice touch. Although there are no real objectives in this game you can train your dog and put them in competitions. The interactions with your dog or cat is fun as well. My daugther loves to try and get them to do silly things and just laughs at them. Nintendgos + Cats is a fun game but I would recommend getting it on sale. I think we spent $12 on it, I would not buy it for more than $20.The game is a very cute upgrade to the old version of Nintendogs. The newer Graphics and activities are just as fun. i do miss the old map where u can choose which store or park or gym you want to go to. you can for this one too but you have to pull your dog to one side of the road or the other in order to the animal to aknowlege the shop/park/etc. But aside from that i love the feature where you have a pedometer and you close your ds and your animal walks with you. You also get a variety of gifts depending on how far you walk or run. But From what ive played i do like this version of the game. Its interesting how you can turn the camera around to see the animal from a different angle or to take cute pictures with. I still enjoy this game and i would recommend to someone who likes animals or has played the previous ver of Nintendogs.Fun and mindless just the way I remember it to be.This game is loved by my granddaughters 9 & 8. Very easy to understand and play and kept them occupied them on a 5 hour flight!very goodMy son loved the game!
