It’s a good product and very entertaining for your cats, but the controls can be a little finickyThis just showed up today, and my cat took to it right away. So far he won't chase it, only paw at it, but I have no doubt that when he gets used to having it around that he'll chase it. It runs just fine on my linoleum floors, but won't run at all on my carpeting. The remote is really more of a guide than a control: when you push forward or backward, it makes the wheels turn in that direction but you don't have a ton of actual control over the direction. Tapping left and right certainly makes it turn in those directions, but holding either of those directions will only make it spin (which my cat also finds interesting). So don't expect precision controls on this. It is small enough that I did manage to drive it under my stove and had to fish it out, so keep that in mind. The back of the packaging it came in showed how to use it - there's an on/off button on the bottom of the mouse itself, as well as on the remote (which is labeled as "1" and "2" for some reason, with "2" being off), so watch out for that as well if you're having trouble using it - this is also something that's shown on the packaging, but it's easy to overlook if you're expecting to be able to just open it up and start playing with it. It stays upright if my cat pats or swats at it, but if he picks it up by the tail and drops it or hits it too hard it will tip over and need to be uprighted. It's not hugely fast, but has enough speed to keep my cat's attention on it and make him meow to play with it more if I turn it off and he's decided he's not done with it yet. Overall, a pretty good toy for the money. My cat loves this mouse! Powerful enough to go on hard floors or low pile carpet/rugs.It is a brilliant little toy. Well thought out in just about every way (except one, which I'll get into in a bit). It is remarkably well constructed for the price.I had to ding this a couple of stars, because, though it's such a great idea, and fun, it's not for everyone. If you want to use this I highly recommend using this in a smooth constrained such as in an area of a clean floor. Be sure to sweep or vacuum first, because if it hits hair or dust, you'll have to endure a non-trivial hassle getting hair that wraps around the wheel axle out.Remote control and mouse self power-off a period after non-use, to preserve the batteries, which is great. The toy uses 5 tiny common LR44 which I found on Amazon prime, 100 for about $11.3 batteries go in the mouse, and 2 batteries in the remote control. The mouse even looks like a mouse, can really zips and maneuvers and can look pensive and dart or even turn in place. You can make it act mouse-like, when you get the hang of it. and the cats are very interested and curious. But the design shortfall is that in in the real world (and particularly in the real world of pets), there are dust and hairs and carpet fibers on the floor, and these get wrapped around the axle between the wheel and the housing, and it is sadly far too difficult to remove. The wheels don't tolerate any resistance because they don't have a lot of torque, so they have to roll freely.I'm going to get a razor and try cutting them away and then using tweezers to get get the strands out next time. Because when even a tiny almost imperceptible amount of hair or fuzz are wrapped around the axle between the wheel and the housing, the mouse is seriously hampered or just won't perform at all, or with one wheel turning can only spin in place.Because the toy is assembled tiny screws and very logica, I was able to completely disassemble the mouse to get a wheel / axle out and remove the fibers wrapped around it, and then properly reassemble it and it just work. Soon, hair jammed it up again. To take it apart and reasemble it, you have to be gadget savvy and be able to work with your hands and small tools and parts. My cat loves this toy! However, the system is not very sensitive - the mouse and control have to be less than 5 feet from each other for it to work which is a little inconvenient.Bought it for my Mom's cat. She loves itGreat idea but too glitchy. This mouse is not worth the price. When my cat plays with it and hits it, it flips over, and now it can’t move! The small wheels collect dust and then they don’t turn. If you have a tile floor with grout lines, forget it, the wheels get stuck between the tiles and the mouse will not move!! Looking for a stronger more durable remote control toy.I am trying to get my overweight cat to exercise a bit - this was not the answer. It's a fabulous little mouse, very lifelike by my estimation, but it needs a mouse smell I suppose to interest an old lazy cat! She watches it with some interest, but even when it runs right through her legs she doesn't try to catch it. In fact, she jumps out of the way so I suppose that's the only exercise it is going to provide for her. The only time she showed any greater interest was when I picked it up and began pretending to make a fuss of it, stroking it and talking to it in the way I talk to her. She appeared nonplussed, until I put it down and left it. Then she went for it tooth and claw, angrily biting and knocking it about before deciding it was "dead" and walking off. It was hilarious to watch, but I won't upset my little best friend again! The mouse now lives on a shelf with one or two other useless ornaments while the cat remains fat and happy.I'm giving this 3 stars because the cat loves it but it always turns left when I'm using it so it's pretty annoying. The mouse itself looks well made and fairly safe (no parts seem loose like the cat could mistakenly ingest them). It's a cute design and the tail is made of like a silicone material that the cat loves to grab hold of to pick the mouse up. It's just there barely any point in it being remote control cos it drives like a wonky shopping trolley. Bit pricey considering this, maybe if it was only a tenner I wouldn't have had an issue. Even then, a bit naughty. I bought a coke can RC car for a fiver that drives better than this (although with limited range), so I'm sure they could have done better with that aspect. I even took it apart to see why it was always going to one side but there was no mechanical issue I could see. Weird. Sort it out and this would be well worth the price.I bought this item and it arrived quickly as usual - my cat was excited and immediately started knocking the mouse about - unfortunately thats where the excitement ended the mouse appears to be working but the hand controller showed no signs of life.I thought it might be flat battery so i ordered some (from Amazon) - but after replacing the battery the hand set is completely dead - so one very disappointed cat and customer!!Very annoying.
