This is a review of the “Trixie Activity” feeder (which has a base and tunnels/tubes).FYI - when I bought it, the price was a great deal at $12.79. I notice as I write this review it’s currently priced at $16.26. Either way, I think both prices are a great price for this quality feeder. The most important thing about this feeder is to realize that you need to reach underneath and turn the handle of the piece that changes the size of the openings to match the size of your kibble so that your food will fall through into the feeding tubes. :)They say on the product description that this has an “adjustable level of output to vary how quickly treats are released - but, I don’t see how that would truly work. You must adjust it so that your kibble/treats can come out into the tube. Once that is adjusted to the correct sizing, the kibble simply fills the tubes/tunnels. There is no way the cat can reach up and “probe” to get more food or treats to come out - you size it to the kibble and it fills via gravity. So, it’s not “adjustable” in the way they describe with that sentence. This is not important to us, but if you wanted something that did let you vary the amount of kibble/treats, then this is not for you.The container on top that holds the food is 4” wide inside at the top, but it is cone shaped so it narrows down to about 2” wide where it inserts into the top of the food tunnels (and that container is 2.25” tall). How much food this feeder will hold will depend on the size of your kibble, of course. You fill the container on top with kibble, screw the piece from the bottom so that the food falls into the tunnels, then a lot of food will fill the tunnels and you can then top off the container with more kibble. In the end, it holds a surprising amount of kibble!Overall, the feeder base is 11” in diameter and about 5.5” tall. The plastic is very sturdy and this seems to be a high quality feeder. There is a rubbery ring built into the base to keep it from sliding around, but it does move around from our cats using it. I think fur builds up under the ring so the rubber isn’t as effective as you’d think it would be.The feeder tubes are 2” wide. As you see in the pictures of the product, three are tunnels that are flat on the bottom of the feeder and the other three are tubes that stick up in the air. Any cat should easily be able to get food from the three flat tunnels. If they just like playing around while feeding, perhaps they would try getting food from the tubes - but I’ve only seen our two cats use the tunnels so far. Doesn’t really matter, as the kibble refills whichever of the tunnels/tubes the cats eat from. The lid on the top screws on - which is good if you have a cat that knows how to lift lids! The base has a ridge around the edge, so the kibble all stays on the feeder, which we really like. Our normal gravity feeders had kibble scattered all around nearby, this feeder keeps it all on the feeder base. Of course, if your cat pulls out a kibble with her paw and then does not eat it, the kibble will end up not on the base - so you can collect kibble around this feeder, depending on how your cats eat.It says you can clean this in the dishwasher, but we haven’t tried that. I don’t know how you would stop a ton of water from collecting in it if you used a dishwasher?Anyway, our cats - a 12 year old girl and a boy just turning 1 year old - easily figured this out and started eating from it right away. No problems or delays whatsoever. The reason I got this type of feeder was to slow down the gobbling eating habit of our older cat, who overeats and gets overweight. We feed our cats mainly wet food, but we have dry kibble out to free feed since we have a younger kitten that is still growing - so I thought this was a good option to slow down her eating. He doesn’t seem to overeat. Actually, she is the first cat we’ve ever had that overeats! :o The feeder seems to be having the desired impact. She definitely eats less quantity of kibble when eating it one piece at a time from this feeder. :)Hope this info helps someone.c~My cat is a puzzle-master.She has easily solved every other one she's ever had on the very first try. This one took her about 8 tries to figure out how to find all of the treat spots, and only very recently has she gotten under the 5 minute mark on solving it.I'm super impressed with this puzzle. Months later and my cat is still getting a good challenge with the hardest hiding spots.I will inevitably have to buy a new one once she starts solving it too quickly and easily, but this puzzle has bought me quite a bit of time!I think it's a great toy, my cat loves it. Unfortunately she's a monster and took off one of the handles for the little flip door. It's easy to get back together, but I'm epoxying it so it'll stay. Keep an eye on your pets - fortunately my cat just turned it into a toy and didn't try to eat it.Otherwise though, I'm entirely pleased with my purchase. My cat gets super excited when I fill it up now. :) Cat tax included!Works great! The filter is adjustable from the bottom of the dish. My cat seems to enjoy it and it’s helping her to slow down on the eating. She has to walk around the dish and use her paws ? to get to all the kibble. I still only put in about 1/8 cup of kibble at a time tho so she won’t get greedy and over eat. Definitely want to keep is as a a fun activity for her rather than her only source of food. I also supplement with wet food too. This is a great product but my semi-feral cat just wasn’t interested in getting his treats out of it sadly. He requires a lot of stimulation and movement so I guess that’s the issue. Maybe if it was on wheels…it’s well made, etc. so I will probably pass it to my neighbor to see if her kitty will like it. I found no fault with it - my cat just had no interest even though I tried to work with him with it.I got this for my cat (Mo, the Pale One) after noticing she enjoyed finding treats out of another puzzle box and wanted to get her something for her meal every day that might slow her down and keep her fron trying to gorge down the other cats' food. She loved it when I tossed a few treats in, as did Yasha the Grey, but when she realized she was going to be receiving her nightly suppers from this contraption while the other cats were free to feast without effort... The fury directed towards me in her eyes and the lashing of her tail was unparalleled. She has eventually grown accustomed to it over the past few nights and has ended her hunger strike in favor of scooping out food as quickly and efficiently as possible. Overall, I'm happy she gets the mental stimulation and she's still pissed about having to labor for the right to eat. Me too kitty...I loved the idea, but for all of us with cats, you know that your cat is unpredictable. Having euthanized my 18-year old and leaving a lost and sad best friend behind, I thought I'd get him some toys to challenge and entertain him. Well, he didn't like the pointy parts and refused to step on that part after a couple tries, his feet seemed too wide for the narrow passages, and he absolutely had no interest in the fish bowls with treats. The same cat who when we first got him would break into every dry cat food container and scoop out the food wouldn't even give this open bowl a try. He would only scoop out the treats in the tunnel, if it was close to the edge. Enter my new cat, a 10-month old, but she doesn't like the dry food I'm trying on her so she wouldn't even give it a try and had no interest. Sigh. Almost $28 wasted. I'll keep it for her to try again once she's settled in better and I find cat food that she actually likes. Bei youtube gibt es viele Anleitungen und Anregungen für Katzenspielzeug mit interessanten Leckerlieverstecken.I volunteered for the Cat Protection Shelter a couple of years ago and almost all of the cats had one of these. As my boy had been indoors for a year he put on a bit of weight. He still has a pretty face but he isn't appearing in any swimsuit catalogues any time soon!He initially sat next to it looking cute and purring but after a month of perseverance he has finally worked out one section!!!It’s sturdy and easy to clean and the globes can be removed to make the puzzle easier or for cleaningCharlie is 10, guzzles food, she lost her weight but have had to move into a hotel for a few months because of repairs needed on flat. So she’s not getting much exercise or entertainment. My vet years ago had given her a ball where she was supposed to get the food out it didn’t work she just stared at it. This is fantastic. At first like a child she pretended she could do it, I’d show her and she’d push the food away as if to say see I can’t do it your just going to have to give it to me. I left the food there went off, she started to try to get the food, within a couple of days me showing her she had it, but still in front of me she pretended she couldn’t get the food, did a clumsy paw plonking on the food pushing it away. Then looked at me. I then would hear her and watch as long as she didn’t think I was watching there she was doing it, I really thought she could do the two long s shape bits she made her paw seem too big to get in there. But there she was delicately in bringing the food towards her. So cheeky and such a human trate. One time she realised I was watching so suddenly played daft again. I basically within 10 days moved her meal times on to this, she doesn’t have a bowl anymore. When she has chicken I put half the amount that I used to and half way through eating she’s moved away and licking her lips and paws, she’s full. It totally works. It keeps her busy, uses her brain, slows down her eating, makes her realise she full. Of course she’s also got more inquisitive and started putting her paws in everything to get stuff so had to move a few things. Was nervous getting this after the experiences with the ball ones, but this has been fantastic. I’m thinking of getting something else similar, one for her chicken and this one for dried food. But to keep her occupied, and keep food eaten slower. A few times she cried for some food so I put a few dried pellets in there she loves them, but she wasn’t really hungry and left them, 3 hours later was hungry and got to it to get them. I would totally recommend this.
