I adopted a semi- feral older, five year old cat who had been pregnant when brought to the shelter last year. When her kittens were weaned, I adopted my sweet girl. But she was not used to life inside nor to humans, and she seemed the first few days to be looking for something. I bought her a blue shaggy mouse. Since then six such mice appear in various rooms. At least one mouse goes with us to the vet. The mice, available one at a time from various vendors, are carried up and down the stairs at my home to stay close to my kitty. She plays with them and often has one near her when she sleeps.
